July 27 I arrived NYC almost safelyDear friends, (It would be a very long mail, please be prepared. I do not have Thai fonts, but I can read Thai) First of all, I would like to update my situation now. I arrived New York with exhaustion and muscular pain, as the seat was not so comfortable. I left Taipei to transit the second flight at Anchorage (a tourist attraction in Alaska) where I do immigration there. Then, I flied to New York to finish my long trip. The problems were await at JFK airport, as the flight arrived almost 30 minutes earlier than it scheduled. Furthermore, my friends came late than they expected to be around half an hour. So I was stuck there almost an hour - a very bad hour that seems long like a day. After I left the New York immigration desk, my friends did not come yet. So I was haunted by many pushy taxi drivers, who try hard to get me to use their services by using both silly tricks and persuasive pressures. I tried really hard to handle it while my eyes cannot leave my luggage, bag, and a wallet with 1500 dollars inside. I decided to make a phone call to my coming-late friends, but the problem was I had no coin to do so. I asked 2 outlets there for coin exchange. Unfortunately, both black American women from those shops refused to help with no sense of friendship. The first one said "We are closed", the second one said "I do not have to". She means "I do not have to help you". Then, I changed to approach people around there - but it seems not different. I could speak their languages, but the problem was that they do not feel they are obliged to help. My eyes were filled with anxious until a kind old woman around there saw it, so I decided to approach her. Luckily, she helped and also gave me some coins in extra. Also, a chinese guy offered me to use his cell phone - but I am too stupid not to take. After I got enough coins, I can contact my friends. Then, I caught a taxi to Bronx with the fee of 60 dollars (almost 2000 baht), the most expensive time I ever paid. Anyway, I am really fine now in my friends' apartment. They treat me really nice. I decide to hang out with them for a couple more days before I depart to Boston. OK! I should end here. My friends would like to show me the NYC. I will write to you again soon.
